Baron de Sigognac Heritage Armagnacs launched

To celebrate Armagnac’s 700th anniversary, Bordeneuve Chateaux & Collections has created the limited edition Armagnac Baron de Sigognac Heritage, a series of 70 year old Armagnacs of which only 700 bottles of 70cl will be produced (for the whole world).

To truly pay homage to the 700th anniversary, the Heritage series is associated to the number 7 (often considered a magical number since antiquity), therefore it will limit its annual production to 100 bottles each year, over the next 7 years; and in 7 years, this Sigognac Heritage Armagnac will in fact be 77 years old.

This Armagnac has been aged originally in humid cellars for the first 30 years before being moved to drier cellars to perfect its aromas and it has now fallen to 40%vol due to the natural evaporation process:  from the original 10 barrels, the distillery’s guardian angels (the natural evaporation process) have consumed 7, leaving only the equivalent of 3 barrels today in demi-johns; just a third of the original stock.  The price we pay for aromatic perfection.

Each bottle will be numbered and accompanied by an authentic age certificate. All labelling and bottling will be carried out by hand and the finishing touch for this rare Armagnac is its genuine leather pouch that it is presented in.

Tasting notes:
Mahogany colour.  Powerful nose in harmony with the aromas of Agen prunes, light vanilla. Ample, oily and elegant in the mouth.  Soft like the leather pouch it comes in with light notes of coffee. A wonderful finish of candied fruits delicately accompanied by indefinable exotic spicy notes.

RRP: Around £450
