Famous for its top Tuscan wines, Piccini has taken advantage of the new Vino d’Italia classification to launch Memoro - a blend of classic Italian varietals from throughout the country.

Available to the Off-Trade and with an RRP of around £9, Memoro is made up of 40% Primitivo (some of which is passito) from Puglia, 30% oak aged Montepulciano from Abruzzo, 20% Nero d’Avola from sun-soaked Sicily and 10% Merlot del Veneto from cooler climes in the north.

Memoro’s label features a compass to reflect the blending of grapes from the four corners of the country, and the first bottles to be released will bear neck-tags in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification.  

“Memoro is about paying ommagio to our homeland and to centuries of Italian wine culture,” explains Mario Piccini, who has seen this project come to fruition after months of tasting and blending. 

“My family has been making wine for four generations in Tuscany - it is in our blood - but by performing our own unification of other wine regions, we have produced a wine that tastes and feels truly Italian.”

Family owned and run, Piccini has been operating from the heart of the Tuscan countryside for over 120 years and is today run by brother and sister team Mario and Martina Piccini.
