Wine: PET bottles

Leading Spanish wine’s US PET debut

J Garcia-Carrion (JGC), producer of Cristalino Cava, has introduced its Don Simon Class to the US market packaged in light-weight recyclable premium non-glass PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles with screw caps.

The company claims Don Simon Class is now the most "environmentally friendly" packaged wine sold in that country because the PET bottles produce 50% - 60% fewer greenhouse emissions than ordinary glass bottles, consume less energy, generate less solid waste and weigh 30% less. And all without compromising the quality or flavour of the wine.

"As producers and global distributors of consumer goods, we have an environmental responsibility to prevent waste of potentially useful materials while helping reduce pollution," stated Jose Garcia-Carrion Jordan.

"By using eco-friendly non-glass bottles, we hope to promote environmental consciousness and bring our customers a product they can feel good about enjoying."

Don Simon wines are sold worldwide in more than 120 countries.
