American fizz now organic pop

Korbel Champagne Cellars is introducing its first California Brut Champagne made entirely with organically grown grapes according to the traditional methode champenoise technique, to become the first major US producer to offer such a wine.

The launch also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable winemaking practices, says the company.

The Korbel Winery has incorporated sustainability across its vineyards and winemaking process for decades, from land conservation to recycling and reclaiming materials used at the winery.

In 2007, Korbel received its organic processor certification from the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), the certification process required to produce an organic product, which enabled Korbel to start crafting the new Korbel Brut.

While the Korbel Brut is ready to be introduced to consumers and will start hitting shelves across the US in October in limited distribution with a suggested retail price of US$15.99.
