Cognac training toolkit

A new interactive, trilingual, training toolkit is being launched by Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC).

The toolkit, which has taken over two years to develop, is in the form of an interactive CD Rom in English, French and German. Designed to be used for wine and spirits professionals and consumers, the toolkit is a fully comprehensive guide for trainers, educators, journalists and anyone wanting to know more about Cognac.

The content (covering the history of Cognac, viticulture, vinification, distillation, ageing, tasting, legislation and marketing) is broken down into different modules and different levels:

Introductory Level One (VS), for beginners
Intermediate Level Two (VSOP), aimed at those who need a deeper knowledge of Cognac for work or pleasure
• Advanced Level Three (XO), aimed at professionals, journalists and students on advanced courses

The CD Rom comes complete with internet links, giving access to the latest figures on Cognac. There is also an extensive copyright-free picture and video library, allowing users to show each presentation as it appears or create their own bespoke training sessions.

The BNIC’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Jérôme Durand, comments, “One of the most important roles of the BNIC is to inform. Training professionals and educating the consumer is essential today when the message about drinking less but drinking better – drinking responsibly in other words – is so important.  We are delighted therefore to have a real multi-lingual, multi-level toolkit which can convey to different audiences around the world (95% of Cognac is exported) the cultural background, complexity and richness of Cognac.”
