Organic growth for Free Run Wines

Free Run Wines has a new organic wine from the the heart of the Minervois. The new blend from the family-owned estate Château La Reze – Cuvée Edouard – is the result of a collaborative product development project with UK retailer Tesco.

Rachel Robinson, Free Run Wines marketing manager, says: “Opportunities for organic wines have been vulnerable to the challenging market conditions in the UK market but, despite this, we saw organic wine grow by 3.7% in 2010 – compared to just 2% for non-organics. Consumer awareness of environmental and sustainability issues continues to increase, so there is definitely still an important niche within the category for good quality organic wines, particularly if they can be supplied at a competitive price point.”
