Beam Suntory is launching Laphroaig 16YO single malt whisky, a limited-edition created to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Islay distillery. This new product will be exclusively available in the travel retail channel from this month (September 2015).
The distillery says Laphroaig 16YO was crafted “to deliver a taste experience as memorable as the 200th anniversary it commemorates: “This rare expression features an initial burst of citrus accompanied by notes of sweet vanilla and orchard fruit. When water is added, a more intense fruit aroma comes forward with additional caramel notes. The first taste is peppery, but then the liquid mellows, revealing soft orchard fruit flavours with a tang of sea salt and hint of the signature Islay peat smoke resolving into a dry and lingering finish.”
Beam Suntory GTR marketing director, Michael Cockram says: “Laphroaig 16YO is something to savour and share with good friends and family. Matured for 16 years, the liquid is truly unique and brings something special to travel retail shelves for the fans of Laphroaig.”
Laphroaig 16YO has an ABV of 48.4% and will only be available in travel retail with a RRP of €45 for a 350ml bottle.
