The ever popular Armagnac Academies that has just returned from New York after a sold out event for 38 candidates at the Astor Centre, is returning to London on Tuesday 17th May at the traditional Soho Whisky Club, 42 Old Compton Street, London W1. The course will be presented by official Armagnac educator Edward Bates and Amanda Garnham from the BNIA.

Since the beginning of the Armagnac Academies educational programme, six events have been held; 2 in London, 1 in Beijing, 1 in Guangzhou and 2 in New York with a grand total of approximately 200 candidates that have been immersed in the diverse world of Armagnac, including its history, facts and figures, production, distillation and ageing, not to mention the opportunity to taste a very wide range of different styles and ages from different producers.

The B.N.I.A. (Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac) that started the Armagnac Academies in 2013 is delighted with the positive response that it has generated and the results of the students that sit a 100 multiple choice question exam at the end of the day long course with the goal of achieving either Pass, Credit or Distinction in their official diplomas.  The course is mainly aimed at trade professionals and has attracted importers, distributors, merchants, bartenders, sommeliers and journalists.

The candidate with the highest score will win a trip to Armagnac as a guest of the B.N.I.A. to experience the magic of the distillation first hand.

Some of the comments from the recent New York Armagnac Academies at the beginning of March where Jillian Vose from the Dead Rabbit was guest speaker explaining how Armagnac can be used in cocktails:

‘Thank you for this summary and for the class, it was indeed a huge learning experience and I really enjoyed it.  I'm looking forward to exploring more with armagnac in the future.’

‘Thank you much. The class was fun and obviously informative. And this is great to receive an email with the correct answers.’

Thank you so much!  The Armagnac Academy was absolutely lovely and incredibly informative, I am so happy I was able to attend.’

Thanks Amanda! What an informative and useful (and tasty!) course!’

Places will be very limited to a maximum of 30 people and the day’s tuition and tastings costs £100 per person.  The day starts at 08h30 and finishes at 18h00.
