Fuller’s and Seafarers UK charity celebrate

Following a successful launch and incredible customer reaction, Fuller, Smith & Turner’s has now sold over 1,000 barrels of its Gales Seafarers Ale, benefiting a key British charity.

A donation of £3 per barrel sold has been made to Seafarers UK, the UK’s leading maritime charity. Fuller’s invited Commodore Barry Bryant, director general, Seafarers UK and other Seafarers staff to the Griffin Brewery to receive a cheque to the value of £3,000 for the first thousand barrels sold.

However, Fuller’s brands marketing manager, David Spencer, delivered a surprise to the charity: Fuller’s had decided to increase the contribution to £5 per barrel.
Spencer said: “Seafarers Ale has really caught our drinkers’ imaginations and we’re absolutely thrilled with how well it is selling. We are very proud to be able to support Seafarers UK in this way, and because we want them to share in the beer’s success, we decided to increase the donation per barrel.”

Commodore Bryant added: “It was a great pleasure to be invited to the Griffin Brewery to receive the cheque to mark the sale of the first 1,000 barrels of Seafarers Ale. Three thousand would have gone a long way to helping seafarers and their families in need, so Fuller’s decision to increase their donation per barrel, making the cheque £5,000 instead, was a fantastic, and very welcome, surprise.”
