Quality benchmark for Romanian Wines

Quality benchmark for Romanian Wines

Romanian Winegrowers has announced that its members will undergo a benchmarking initiative, designed to identify a Hero Selection of wines.

Entries have been invited from all member companies, across a range of price points and categories.  The selection will be made by a panel of judges including Masters of Wine and industry specialists.

The Hero Selection is the first initiative in the ‘Taste a New Romania’ campaign, designed to redress trade opinion of Romanian wines and challenge the trade to put Romania back on the buying agenda. The selection will be unveiled on the Romanian Winegrowers stand at the LIWF, and will create a manageable range to kickstart discussions and tastings with the trade.

Paul Evans, UK spokesperson for Romanian Winegrowers commented: ”It is criticall that the trade starts to taste Romanian wine again. There has been such huge investment and staggering increases in quality over the last few years that there is finally a story to tell.

"The Hero Selection will provide a starting point, a chance to start exploring the potential of this country.”
