California wine brand Turning Leaf has entered into a strategic partnership with fashion house Basso & Brooke for Spring/Summer 2010.
2009 saw Gallo re-position Turning Leaf as a stand-alone premium Californian brand with new, improved packaging (read the report). In 2010 Turning Leaf will kick off a series of collaborations partnering with some of the world’s most exciting design talent as part of its “discover the taste of colour” marketing campaign.
One of the first collaborations is with fashion duo Basso & Brooke, who are famous for their unusual use of colour and pioneering print techniques. Following an inspirational visit to the Turning Leaf vineyards earlier this year, the designers are developing a range of bespoke, limited edition products. They aim to “capture the true spirit of the wine” and some of the first products, a limited edition Turning Leaf bottle and gift bag, were launched at the Basso & Brooke designer show during London Fashion Week in February 2010.
Over the next six months Basso & Brooke will launch a series of Turning Leaf events within the UK, including the pop-up Leaf Lounge bar, to drive brand awareness and trial of the Turning Leaf range. The design duo will also be creating an exclusive blog on the new Turning Leaf website featuring the inside track from Fashion Weeks, along with their top tips on style and fashion this season.
Basso & Brooke comments: “Being huge wine lovers we jumped at the chance to work with Turning Leaf as their ‘Designers in Residence’. We’re really looking forward to embracing this exciting collaboration and bringing the concept to life with exclusive products and events”.
Yona Ellis, marketing manager Turning Leaf, comments: “Turning Leaf wines are about discovering the taste of colour and Basso & Brooke, through their own incredible use of colour, are the perfect partners to take our vision to a whole new level. We eagerly anticipate their forthcoming work for us and truly believe the collaboration will create some very unique and vibrant designs that embody our colourful, optimistic outlook on life.”
