Constellation Wines is set to become the producer of the largest amount of solar energy in the US wine industry.
The company is investing in three new solar energy installations at its Californian wineries – at Ravenswood in Sonoma, Estancia in Monterey County, and Clos du Bois in Geyserville. Approximately 17,000 solar panels will have been installed by the end of this (2010) year.
“Not only will this initiative have a positive impact on the environment, but it is also cost effective, saving approximately US$1m in energy costs per year,” says Jay Wright, president Constellation Wines North America.
