Argento Wine Company to increase winery

British wine company Bibendum Wine has sold the Argento Wine Company to the Argentine group, Inversora Agroindustrial Sudamericana, which owns several hundred hectares of premium vineyards in Mendoza as well as the prestigious Bodega Vistalba, Bodega Garzon in Uruguay and Renwood Winery in Amador County, California.

Alejandro Bulgheroni and Carlos Pulenta, directors of Inversora, commented: “We are very pleased to have completed this important step in the development of our international wine business. The Argento brand has achieved outstanding global recognition over the past decade and we now have a unique opportunity to combine our extensive vineyard and winemaking facilities with Argento’s global reach and internationally based team.”

The Argento Wine Company will continue to operate as it currently does with offices in London, Mendoza and Europe.

"This is a very exciting development for the Argento business,” commented Michael Saunders, MD Bibendum. “With the strong distribution platform and unique brand position that Argento enjoys, this recent move will serve to further strengthen its winemaking and fruit sourcing capacity, enabling Argento to build on its position as one of the leading wine brands from Argentina.”

Amelia Nolan, MD Argento Wine Company, added: “We have always positioned ourselves to be close to our markets, and integrating our business with the vineyards required will enable us to further develop the huge potential that we believe premium wine from Argentina has around the world.”

Argento was launched in 1999 and is sold in over 50 countries around the world. Its main markets include Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, the USA, Denmark, Sweden and the UAE.
