Beverage can maker Ball Packaging Europe and EB-Secco presented fruit and sparkling wines in cans at ProWein in Düsseldorf last month. Filling wine in aluminium beverage cans opens new markets to winegrowers: The target group are the 20 to 39-year-old consumers, who are not traditional wine drinkers, but like new ideas.
The wine can with the Protected Quality seal developed by Ball is lightproof and gastight, with a special lacquer inside to protect against any undesired reactions between the wine and the metal. The small size of the Slim Can (187/200ml and 250 ml) plus its unbreakability and low weight make it particularly efficient during transportation and storage – especially for airlines, catering in trains and on passenger ships.
