Marisco appoints new winemaker

New Zealand’s Marisco Vineyards has appointed Matt Mitchell as winemaker.

Mitchell, who has previously worked with many prestigious estates across New Zealand, most recently Ager Sectus and Yealands, has amassed over 20 years of experience as a winemaker.

He also holds an honours degree from Massey and a wine technology diploma from Roseworthy College, from where chief winemaker and Marisco Vineyards proprietor, Brent Marris also graduated. Mitchell will replace Liam McElhinney, who has been Marisco Vineyards’ winemaker for the past four years.

McElhinney has seen Marisco Vineyards through a period of major growth and now leaves the company to pursue ventures outside the wine industry.
