Equissolis, a French organic vintage vodka distilled exclusively from organic winter wheat grown on the estate in the Camargue, was unveiled today at the London International Wine Fair.
The Camargue is a vast protected coastal area in Southern France where the Rhone meets the Mediterranean Sea and the Mistral winds blow in fresh weather across the delta. Depending on the winter weather, the wheat varies in taste from year to year – hence the decision was made to vintage the vodka.
The Camargue is known for its wild life including pink flamingos and, most famously, its white horses, which are prominently featured on the bottle.
The wheat mash is five times distilled using a column still and each harvest put on the market the following spring in numbered bottles.
The vodka has been awarded ECOCERT organic certification for its farming methods and distillation process.
