Domaines Francis Abecassis introduced its latest limited edition cognac – Cognac Leyrat Partage – at the London International Wine Fair and then Vinexpo in Bordeaux last week.
The cognac from a blend of very old eaux de vie is presented in a limited edition of 52 crystal decanters each encased in an oak chest designed to represent the cask it was aged in.
Cognac Leyrat has offered the first of these decanters to the annual "Part des Anges" charity auction of cognacs in September, where it expected to fetch €5,200.
Selected by the cellar master Christian Guerin, Cognac Leyrat Partage has aromas of spices and sandalwood developed from long aging in oak barrels. The palate reveals notes of cigar box and a lingering honey finish.
