Bordeaux made approachable and understandable

Le Petit Grand is a pair of wines, red and white, which capture the essence of the famous Bordeaux region but in a format that is approachable and understandable, even for wine drinkers who know little or nothing about Bordeaux.

The wines are both traditional Bordeaux blends, Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon for the red and Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc for the white; they feature varietal labelling, screwcap closures and eye-catching contemporary packaging which hints at a sense of fun.

Frédérique Lenoir, marketing manager at Yvon Mau, explains “Bordeaux is so hard to understand, with complex vocabulary and often highly traditional visual cues.  Yet our research confirmed that Bordeaux also has a world famous reputation and produces wines that are highly aspirational.  Le Petit Grand is a wine that will bridge the gap between Bordeaux’s successful traditions and the modern demand for clarity of information and approachable wine styles.”

The packaging and fruit-forward style of Le Petit Grand were developed by Yvon Mau and Freixenet UK following a programme of consumer research in the UK.  Yvon Mau was founded in 1897 and, after four generations of Mau family management, was bought by the Freixenet Group in 2001.  Yvon Mau is now the fourth largest Bordeaux Négociant, with strong sales in France itself and a broad international distribution network. The company sells its wines in more than 80 countries, with a turnover of 110 million Euros, of which 40% is accounted for by exports.

RRP:  £9.99 for both red & white 75 cl bottle.
