Red Stripe, the Jamaican lager brand from Diageo, is launching its 300ml ‘stubby’ bottle into the UK market.
Currently Red Stripe is sold to the UK on-trade in a ‘long neck’ 330ml bottle and in cans to the off-trade. All Red Stripe liquid sold in UK market is brewed in the UK to the same recipe and with the same ingredients as in Jamaica. The new stubby bottle is being produced and supplied by Quinn Glass in Derrylin, Northern Ireland.
Red Stripe’s stubby bottle is the original Jamaican bottle design recognised by consumers the world over. Its clear branding, wider facing and unusual shape – unique in the UK market – gives it strong stand out and on-trade appeal.
Claire Prat, brand manager for Red Stripe, Diageo GB says: “The new ‘stubby’ bottle is a celebration of traditional Jamaican heritage and offers our customers a real point of difference. The beer category is currently worth £2.5bn in the on-trade* and we expect this new launch to drive sales and build our distribution.”
The launch will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign. The new bottle has an RRP of £2.79 and is available exclusively to the on-trade
