Greene King invests in innovation brewhouse

Greene King, a leading UK brewer and pub retailer, has invested £750,000 in an innovation brewhouse at its base in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

The new brewhouse will allow the brewery to use its 200 year brewing experience to experiment with a range of new ingredients, yeasts, styles and flavours to create more craft beer styles.

A small packaging area, designed to produce all formats for both the on-trade and off-trade, will also form part of the new brewhouse, which will be launched later this year.

Chris Houlton, MD of Greene King Brewing & Brands, says the company is determined to capitalise on impressive sales growth by offering even greater choice to customers and consumers alike.: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the business; the new brewery is a perfect opportunity for us to experiment and to showcase our brewing expertise.

“We are listening to our customers and investing in innovation. It is also a real chance to put into practice some of the ideas we have had before but until now have not been able to turn into reality. It is the start of an exciting new chapter for our business.

We have some exciting plans and brews ready for the opening of the new brewhouse, so watch this space!”

The innovation brewhouse, which is being built by a team of experienced manufacturers at Musk Engineering will open on 20 November 2013, with the first beers crafted at the new innovation brewhouse expected to be available from early next year.
