New rum takes on the flavours of Florida

The US craft distiller Cape Spirits, producer of Wicked Dolphin Silver Rum, has kicked off 2014 with the release of Wicked Dolphin Florida Spiced Rum.

The 40% abv (80% proof) rum has an RRP of US$25.99 and is available through the Republic National Distributing Company and the Wicked Dolphin Distillery in Cape Coral, Florida. Discussions are also being held with international distributors.

This spiced rum has been developed to be distinctively Florida with notes of Florida oranges and honey with a vanilla undertone and a spicy finish. “We also add some of our aged rum to our spiced to give it a nice smooth and mature taste,” says JoAnn Elardo, owner of Wicked Dolphin Florida Rums. Our Florida Spiced Rum has a creamy, warm vanilla taste, along with a spicy citrus finish that creates the perfect combination for enhancing a time-honored beverage - the Rum & Coke. We call it a Wicked Coke.”

Cape Spirits, which launched the Wicked Dolphin brand in 2011, distills handcrafted spirits using only the finest ingredients. Wicked Dolphin Florida Spiced Rum is made with premium Florida sugarcane, blended with fresh-ground spices and local Florida honey and oranges. “We really take pride in using as many fresh, Florida ingredients that we can.”

The distinctively shaped bottle, which is custom made for Wicked Dolphin, was designed with the bartender in mind. It has a comfortable grip with embossed Florida Rum lettering on the side, that also makes it non-slip, plus long neck and a tapered bottom for smaller hands. The eye-catching branding is printed on a clear pressure-sensitive label that is applied by semi-automatic machine.
