Importer Pierhead is adding a Mexican craft beer range called ‘Day of the Dead’ to its world beer offer in the UK.
Brewed in Tecate by Cerveceria Mexicana, Mexico’s third largest brewery, the six strong range, which includes a porter, an IPA and pale ale, is a departure from established Mexican brewing that traditionally focuses on light lagers.
The range not only celebrates the world renowned Day of the Dead annual ceremony but also draws its packaging design from the Aztecs that used to populate the Tecate region. The labels, all created by local Mexican artists, have dramatic stand out in the chiller and it is expected that they will appeal to Mexican and Spanish venues catering for party and celebration nights, as well as those wanting to offer a uniquely authentic option.
Says Samantha Johnson Pierhead imported beers manager: “With the huge increase in popularity of Mexican food and consumers continuing to look for authentic imports that offer something different, this range ticks all the boxes. The colourful images on the packaging and the range of beer styles together with the quality and taste of the beer makes it a winner for grocers that want to offer something very different to their customers”.
