Single serve wine formats set to grow

Les Grands Chais de France and Inova Spain, team up to deliver the next single serve innovations

Inova Simple Inspiracion based in Spain has agreed a filling contract with Les Grands Chais de France to produce single serve wines at its Landiras filling centre in Bordeaux. Inova presently has two single serve concepts - Singlz, an all-in-one bottle and glass format, and Quart Vin Glass, a single-serve ready-to-drink in a PET 'glass'. The filled products will be ready to go to market in March.

Inova owns the exclusive rights to the technology of both concepts for the EU, CIS, Russian Federation, Middle East and North Africa and can export finished goods worldwide.

"We have been talking to LGCF since VinExpo 2011," says Simon Robertson, business development director. "We knew that we needed one of the major players in the wine industry to support our innovations and bring the economies of scale required for these formats to be price competitive in the market place. The bottling agreement with LGCF brings this scale.

"We will be launching the Quart Vin Glass concept under two brands, 'La Copita' and 'Bordeaux'. Quart Vin Glass is the fastest growing format in single serve wine worldwide. All EU production will be brought to the LGCF, Bordeaux filling centre. La Copita will use Spanish wines and Bordeaux will be using Bordeaux blends. All of the wines we use will be supplied by LGCF."

Quart Vin Glass has been launched in the US, France, Holland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Korea, Japan, Australia and he says discussions are at a mature stage in South Africa.

Singlz is already on the UK market under the Vino Solo Spanish wine label through Matthew Clark. Last year it was available at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as Alton Towers. Discussions are also underway with Matthew Clark to extend the range into the "Villa Cardini" Italian wine label.

In other markets Singlz is already available with Italian wine under the Villa Cardini brand. In Holland it as available on the railways as well as the railways stations and the concept has also been launched in Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Greece & France and the Far East.

In the US it is being promoted using a Baseball 'Hall of Famer' Jo Morgan.

It was recently reported by Forbes, that single serve is the "fastest growing category in wine".

Inova will be exhibiting with LGCF at ProWein in Dusseldorf and Hamburg WTCE 2014.
