Whisky Magazine’s editor Rob Allanson is to be the new global ambassador for Grant’s blended Scotch whisky. His appointment follows the promotion of Ludo Ducrocq to head William Grant & Sons’ 80-strong and fast-growing team of brand ambassadors worldwide.
Journalist, biker, photographer, cyclist and musician, Rob is a man of many achievements, but it’s his passion for whisky and his editorship of Whisky Magazine for which he is best known. He joins Grant’s after an eight-year tenure as editor, where he also made his name in competition judging panels and whisky master classes the world over. Rob will take Grant’s on tour, using his expertise and enthusiasm to ignite passion for the award-winning Scotch with whisky fans around the world.
Says Rob: “I’ve been a whisky commentator for years, but having the opportunity to take centre stage at the heart of such a famous production house is really exciting. This is no solo gig. I’m joining a great team; from cooper, to still man, to master blender and I look forward to working alongside them, tasting some great whisky and playing my part in the incredible and continuing Grant’s success story.”
Grant’s global brand director, Shane Hoyne comments: “Grant’s story has been over 100 years in the making and Rob will be a key member of the team as we together aim to win over a new generation of whisky drinkers around the world. We’re very excited to have him on board.”
Grant’s occupies an enviable position amongst the world’s top three standard blended Scotch whiskies and in 2013 took the IWSC Blended Scotch Trophy for its 18 year old blend. The brand has recently launched Stand Together, a new global communications campaign to support its growth plans in developing whisky markets. A series of print ads depicting the pleasure of shared achievement has launched in key markets worldwide and full 360 roll out will follow in late 2014.
Rob will join Grant’s as global brand ambassador from April 1, 2014.
