Gordon Castle Gin launched nationwide

Gordon Castle Scotland will launch a Gordon Castle Gin at The Royal Highland Show (19 – 22 June 2014).

The new gin, distilled and distributed by Gordon & MacPhail and the first product to be launched from the Gordon Castle Walled Garden range, contains botanicals grown in the restored Walled Garden of the Gordon Castle Estate in Speyside, Scotland.

The huge Victorian walled garden at Gordon Castle is in the process of being renovated and redeveloped, with a masterplan by acclaimed garden designer Arne Maynard. All of the products in the new luxury range will contain an ingredient grown in the walled garden.

The Gin is described as crisp elegant and refreshing with a clean palate. Subtle notes of lavender linger at the back of the nose and within the mouth. Garden mint comes into focus on the nose and in the mouth helping promote the clean refreshing character. Warming herb notes add to the richness and complexity of the gin. Ideally served as a classic martini with a sprig of mint or with tonic with lemon, lime and mint garnish.

Angus Gordon Lennox, owner of Gordon Castle, says: “Our ambitious walled garden restoration continues and an extensive range of luxury products is in the pipeline, but we wanted to showcase the Gin as our brand leader.

“The mix of botanicals, grown in the garden here at Gordon Castle, gives it a uniquely crisp and fresh flavour and we are quietly confident that this small batch, hand-crafted gin will appeal to all gin drinkers who also love provenance, history and a romantic story.”

The gin, which is 43% abv and has an RRP of £32.99 for 70cl bottle, will be distributed exclusively by Gordon & MacPhail. The products will also be available from www.gordoncastlescotland.co.uk.

Speaking about the company’s new partnership with Gordon Castle, Stephen Rankin, UK Sales Director at Gordon & MacPhail, says: “We are honoured to be working alongside the team at Gordon Castle to distribute this new gin and bring it to market. Our family business has prided itself on producing and marketing the finest premium spirits for over 100 years and it seems fitting that we should now be working with another historic Speyside family to extend our drinks stable using ancient distilling techniques.”

The glass bottle for the Gordon Castle Gin is supplied by Saverglass. While the overall brand concept for the Gordon Castle Walled Garden range was conceived by one of London's leading branding agencies The Plant, the specific design for the gin bottle was created in-house.
