STO expertise automates decanter production

Stölzle Glass Group has developed a fully automated means of manufacturing this previously mouth-blown prestige decanter.

Some years ago William Grant & Sons launched its magnificent 38 Years Old Glenfiddich Scotch whisky in individually mouth-blown luxury crystal decanters that were decorated by hand through the use of sandblasting and gold paint, and each bottle given a unique limited batch number.

In the middle of 2013, Stölzle Glass Group undertook at its UK production site the challenge of developing a fully automated means of manufacturing the sophisticated triangular decanter before being manually cut, polished and hand painted with gold in the engraved front surface.

The automatic production of this brilliant decanter has not only enabled larger volumes but also reduced unit costs and greater accuracy.

Stölzle Glass Group with its headquarters in Austria has five European production sites including three decorating facilities. The Group also manufactures high-end bespoke glass containers and has a range of standard containers.
