Bespoke & Tonic has announced that Ferdinand's Saar Gin infused with Riesling is now available in the UK. Imported via Amathus Drinks at the beginning of July, Ferdinand's Saar Gin is now stocked by Master of Malt and listed at a number of bars across the capital. And with Amathus stores holding master classes with producer Denis Reinhart during August, Ferdinand's is confident it can hit the market with a bang.
According to cocktail guru Simon Gifford, the gin is "very modern in style with juniper challenged in dominance by a plethora of other non-traditional gin flavours".
To preserve the gin’s complexity and distinctive character, it is distilled exclusively in small batches using regional, usually home-grown ingredients.
The gin, created by master distiller Andreas Vallendar, uses Riesling grapes with 30 botanicals grown on the Zilliken estate on the grand Saarburger Rausch site, which is in a tri-border region between Germany, Luxembourg and France. The product is hand-crafted from two traditional producers whose methods have already shaped this Saar region’s style and reputation. They wanted a gin that reflected their own region with all its highlights and with the emphasis on quality.
