Westons Wyld Wood wins DBA Gold award

Premium English cider producer Westons Cider has won a Gold award at the DBA (Design Business Association) Design Effectiveness Awards 2015 for its Wyld Wood Organic Cider.

The DBA Design Effectiveness Awards assess the commercial impact of great design and are not related to aesthetics. Championing the role of effective design in the creation of business growth for the last 30 years, they also take into account commercial context and other influencing factors such as PR and marketing campaigns.

Matthew Langley, Wyld Wood brand manager, says: “The Gold award in the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards 2015 recognises the huge impact of our packaging redesign carried out in 2012, in which our long running partnership with Cheltenham-based BOS Design delivered a new design to position Wyld Wood as a premium drink made by cider experts while also increasing its presence on shelf. In the year following the new design, sales increased 17% year-on-year and rate of sale increased by a substantial 43%.

Wyld Wood is the UK’s no.1 organic cider (total on- and off-trade) and is the most traditional of Westons ciders, matured in oak vats. Westons ciders are now widely available throughout the UK as well as in over 40 countries globally.

Westons Cider is now run by the fifth generation of the Weston family, which has been producing traditional English cider in the Herefordshire village of Much Marcle since 1880. Westons makes a broad range of ciders for the premium cider sector with its other key brand groups including Stowford Press, Henry Westons and Old Rosie.
