Drinks Symposium speakers announced

The Drinks Symposium will be returning to the Packaging Innovations & Luxury Packaging show at London Olympia on September 17.

Coordinated by Felicity Murray, editor of TheDrinksReport.com, this free to attend symposium will offer industry experts from Sauvelle vodka, Hawthorns gin, Funkin Cocktails and their design agencies, who will be discussing how to stand out and build a successful drinks business. They will be sharing their ideas and knowledge on how imaginative packaging design can create a strong and unmistakeable brand identity and offering visitors real-life stories, advice and the latest concepts sweeping the drinks industry

Chris Joscelyne, creative account director at ButterflyCannon and Will Turnage, CEO of 180 East, together will be talking about how to create a successful spirits brand in today’s competitive market - the importance of finding a compelling brand story, developing an overarching creative platform and getting totally obsessed about the design craft, all demonstrated through the launch of the new Hawthorn’s London Dry Gin.

Causing a stir and celebrating 15 years of successful growth is Funkin cocktail mixers. Dan Gomme, Funkin’s trade marketing manager, will talk about refreshing a brand’s image, how to make it unmistakeably recognisable, and lifting the lid on Funkin’s new packaging, which will be rolled out in coming months across its expanding range of products.

Nick Worthington, brand marketing and business development director for the new vodka brand, Sauvelle, will discuss launching a small independent brand onto the market, and the importance of the choice of packaging. “We’re looking forward to talking at the Drinks Symposium and sharing our experience in the creation and launch of a new independent luxury brand,” he says.

Worthington has worked with and consulted for an exceptional selection of spirit brands, first being tasked with launching a range of brands for historic Berry Bros & Rudd, including Kings Ginger liquor, No.3 Gin, and Pink Pigeon Rum. He then turned his attention to launching Crystal Head Vodka into the UK market, then Appleton Estate Rums and the re-launching of Bulldog.

Other drinks speakers at the show’s Luxury Packaging Conference include representatives from Diageo, Bacardi and Ian Macleod Distillers.
