Hefford moves into on-line wine retailing

Online wine and spirits retailer, FromVineyardsDirect.com, has appointed David Hefford as its new wine product manager working alongside the company’s co-founder, Esme Johnstone.  

David Hefford started work in the wine trade "quite by accident", taking a part time job at Threshers and then Oddbins.

He spent eight years at Majestic, during which time he was twice awarded Manager of the Year. He also won the Vintners Bursary following his outstanding Level Three WSET result, which usefully funded a trip to Bordeaux.

Before joining FromVineyardsDirect.com, he was part of the buying team at West London independent, The Good Wine Shop, maintaining and developing a list of 1,000 wines.

“My move to FromVineyardsDirect.com was sparked by the fantastic opportunity the role offered to buy wines direct from European vineyards and to pass on the wines (at exceptional prices), and the stories and passion behind them to customers. There is so much added-value in all of that, at every level”, states Hefford, but he admits: “Running my own winery in France is my long term ambition.”
