Alex Kammerling, founder of the botanical spirit Kamm & Sons, is launching an Islay Cask edition of the aperitif this Christmas.
Based on the original Kamm & Sons botanical spirit distillate, the Kamm & Sons Islay Cask is blended to a stronger 43% abv; the 3 month ‘resting’ period in a single Islay whisky barrel brings out the woodier and earthier notes of the botanicals, while softening the spirit and giving it a smooth, subtle but noticeable peatiness from the whisky.
There have been only 500 bottles produced and each one has been signed and numbered by Alex.
The new spirit has been created to be enjoyed neat over ice or simply stirred down with sweet vermouth.
Kamm & Sons Islay Cask will be available in premium retailers and on-line at: www.masterofmalt.com (£43.00) and in on-trade bars such as Hawksmoor in Spitalfields, the Merchants Tavern, Peg + Patriot or the new Kamm & Sons pop-up bar at Streetfeast’s Hawker House site in Canada Water, ‘Kamms Kitchen’.
