Inter-Rhône, joint professional organisation for Côtes du Rhône and Rhône Valley AOC wines, has appointed Virginie Charlier to the position of marketing and communications director. In her new role, Virginie will aim to increase the dynamism of the number two wine region in France, while highlighting its unique positioning.
With over 18 years’ experience, Virginie, who previously held senior marketing and management positions across global companies such as Rémy Cointreau, McCormick and Coca-Cola, joined Inter-Rhône at the beginning of 2016.
US-born Virginie brings to Inter-Rhône her international outlook and understanding of export markets. Managing a team of 12 across 15 markets, her remit will cover marketing, events, internal development, wine tourism and international fairs.
Virginie says: "With a unique terroir, climate and award-winning producers, the Rhône’s appellations proudly offer world-renowned wines, which are highly sought-after amongst wine connoisseurs. I’m looking forward to developing and implementing strategies to further build a prosperous future for the Vallée du Rhône."
