The 2015 Chivite Las Fincas Rosado, from the IGP (indicación Geográfica Protegida) de 3 Riberas in the north of Spain, had its international launch in London earlier this month at the Michelin starred restaurant Ametsa. The wine was created by Julián Chivite in homage to his friend, the restaurant’s renowned Spanish chef Juan Marí Arzak.
The wine is made up of a blend of 54% Garnacha and 46% Tempranillo and has been aged on its lees for six months prior to bottling.
Commenting on the new wine Chivite said: “The wine carries both the Chivite and Arzak names and has been designed to stand out from the usual type of Spanish rosado, in that it is paler in colour and is very much a food wine, although, as you would expect, it is versatile and Juan Mari and I believe it is as good with food as it is on its own.”
The wine will retail at £12.95 and is available from Great Western Wines, with immediate effect (www.greatwesternwine.co.uk).
Enotria & Coe has taken on the exclusive distribution of the J. Chivite Estates premium wines portfolio in the UK. The agreement takes effect this month and Enotria & Coe will look after the sales, distribution and marketing of the Chivite Colección 125 and Villatuerta ranges. Commenting on the agreement, Julián Chivite, CEO, says: “Our partnership with Enotria&Coe is very exciting, we look forward to putting our brands back on the map in the UK market. We have been making a number of strategic changes at Chivite with the aim of revitalising our brands and improving distribution in key global markets. The link up with Enotria&Coe is an intrinsic part of this new strategy.”
