July will see the launch of a new expression in the Glen Moray Classic range of Speyside single malt whiskies. Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish offers a new twist on the traditional Glen Moray taste-profile by adding layers of rich and spicy sweetness to the spirit’s typically light and floral flavours of butterscotch and lemongrass, and will be available from specialist whisky retailers and Sainsbury’s, priced from £22.00.
Graham Coull, Glen Moray master distiller, comments: “Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish is a celebration of the age old tradition of maturing whisky in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. I select Glen Moray, which has been maturing in American oak casks and transfer it to the highest quality sherry casks for a minimum of eight months. The resulting whisky is incredibly rich and satisfying”.
Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish will join the Classic Range, which includes Classic, Port Cask Finish and Peated.
Glen Moray Single Malt Scotch Whisky has shown a steady growth of 50% in international sales over the last four years with a positive upward trend in UK growth of +14% year on year sales (Nielsen Scantrack). Recently published Nielsen figures put Glen Moray Classic as the sixth best selling single malt in the UK.
The Glen Moray Single Malt Distillery in Speyside is currently undergoing expansion works so that the production capacity will be doubled to 6.5mla. Additional maturation warehouses will be built increasing the storage capacity from 90,000 barrels to 250,000 barrels.
