Jose Cuervo Rolling Stones bottles now in UK

Jose Cuervo's two limited edition tequila bottlings of Especial and Reserva de la Familia – Jose Cuervo The Rolling Stones Tour Pick – were released in the US last September to celebrate the pivotal role Jose Cuervo played in fueling The Rolling Stones’ 1972 North American tour, dubbed ‘the Tequila Sunrise tour’. From the end of this month (July) these special bottlings will be available in the UK.

Special Edition Rolling Stones Jose Cuervo Especial – the Cuervo family’s blue agave recipe bottled at 38% ABV, RRP £12, will be in Asda stores nationwide; and the Ultra Premium Rolling Stones Reserva de la Familia Collectors Edition – the private Extra Añejo Tequila reserve of the Cuervo Family, RRP £100, will be in Selfridges.

The year was 1972; a time of excess in the US and no moment marked the American ethos more than the glamour of The Rolling Stones’ tour. An endeavour of epic proportions spanning sold-out shows, countless after-parties and an infinite entourage of celebrities, it is widely heralded as the greatest party of all time.

After a sell-out show in San Francisco, the bartender at The Trident handed the band their first ever Cuervo Tequila Sunrise cocktail. The drink was an immediate hit. It was dubbed the official tour cocktail and Cuervo their spiritual tour companion across all 32 cities and 48 shows. The rest, as they shout over the raucous ruckus, is history.
