Carling has introduced a new flavour to its range of ciders, Carling Black Fruits. The release launches in Tesco, before rolling out in further UK supermarkets, Asda and Morrison's, in May.
The new variant, which will be available in can, will initially be sold in 4 x 440ml and 10 x 440ml packs with a 4 x 500ml price marked pack planned for wholesale channels later this year.
Figures provided by Carling suggest that canned fruit cider has increased its presence in the off-trade considerably, growing 73% in two years and 35% in the last year alone. It suggests that canned fruit cider now makes up 15% of total cider sales, up from 9% just two years ago.
Jim Shearer, Carling brand director, comments: “We’re pleased to announce the launch of Carling Black Fruits Cider, a move which represents our continued investment in the cider category. Recent data shows the popularity of the fruit cider can market, which has grown exponentially in recent years. We’re excited to be able to tap into this market with a product that we are confident drinkers are going to love.”
The launch of Carling Black Fruits Cider follows the introduction of a refreshed Carling visual identity on 1 February 2017, ensuring consistency across the entire Carling portfolio, including Original Lager, Cider, Citrus Twist and Premier.
