Caorunn grows to nationwide listing at Tesco

Scottish gin brand, Caorunn, has announce listings in Tesco stores nationwide.

Double digit volume growth has been achieved every year since the brand was listed with Tesco in October of 2012.

The brand has also enjoyed success within nationwide Waitrose and Sainsburys stores.

Since its launch in 2009, Caorunn has become increasingly popular south of the Scottish border. Sales have more than doubled in the UK since early 2015, whch the brand claims highlights consumer demand for small-batch, artisanal, products made using natural, local ingredients.

Caorunn is crafted in small batches by gin master, Simon Buley at Balmenach Distillery, a working malt whisky distillery in the Speyside region of the Scottish Highlands. Using only pure grain spirit, Scottish water, six traditional and five locally picked Celtic botanicals (Rowan Berries, Heather, Coul Blush Apple, Dandelion, Bog Myrtle), Simon personally distils every batch of Caorunn.

Nial Mackinlay, UK sales director, says: “Caorunn has consistently performed very well throughout the year within Scottish Tesco stores, proving extremely popular with our customers. This in turn has led to extended distribution throughout the UK and we are delighted that more customers will be able to buy Caorunn in these additional stores.”

Caorunn claims that Scottish heritage is at the heart of the brand. Gin master Buley picks the botanicals from the hills surrounding the setting of Balmenach Distillery in the Cairngorms National Park. The spirit is vaporised and then passed through the world’s only working Copper Berry Chamber. It is inside this chamber that the vapour passes through the trays of botanicals, which then impart their aroma and flavour to Caorunn.

Caorunn Small Batch Scottish Gin is now sold in 502 UK Tesco stores.
