New gin inspired by Mull's White-tailed Eagle

The independently family-owned Whitetail Spirits Limited has announced the launch of its premium gin, Whitetail, featuring a unique and eye-catching design and containing hand-foraged botanicals from its home on the Isle of Mull.

Whitetail Gin, proudly distilled by the award-winning master distiller Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers in London features sustainably harvested sea-kelp from Loch Scridain in addition to Calluna heather and pine needles which are found in abundance on Whitetail’s small estate on the south-west side of the island.

Inspired and based on the narrative of Mull’s most famous resident the White-tailed Eagle, Whitetail Gin follows a meticulous brief which focuses on a collaboration between strength and smooth flight.

Director Jamie Munro says: “The majestic white-tailed eagle is the United Kingdom’s largest bird of prey and is synonymous with the Isle of Mull. Nesting close by, these legendary birds are the inspiration behind our family-owned Whitetail brand. Just like its namesake, Whitetail Gin is superior in strength and power and just like its namesake, is subtle and smooth – as gentle on the palate as a feather drifting down from the sky. The imagery and easily-associated narrative that we have been able to create through the brand has positioned us as a unique and easily understood proposition, particularly so with the on-trade.”

The new-offering features nine botanicals: Juniper from Italy, Angelica from Germany, Coriander from Romania, Savoury from Albania, Lemon and Orange peels from Spain and Sea-Kelp, Heather and Pine from the Isle of Mull.

The family-owned brand’s signature serve is a slice of pink grapefruit, rosemary and Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic “which compliments the citrus botanicals” - and this can be enjoyed in Whitetail’s own shop on the Isle of Mull.

Described as “a big complex gin with a smooth delivery and a long-lasting flavour” Whitetail is bottled at 47% abv and is available in 700ml bottles with an RRP of £38.00 from www.whitetailgin.com or Whitetail Spirits’ shop on the Isle of Mull and The Good Spirits Co in Glasgow in addition to all good independent wine and spirits merchants in the United Kingdom. For all trade enquires please direct all correspondence to Jamie Munro via info@whitetailgin.com
