De Bortoli launches bolder and edgier range

Australia based De Bortoli Wines has launched its latest venture, Down the Lane.

The new range features a bolder, edgier look, which the company claims is inspired by the street art and hidden bars of Melbourne.

De Bortoli Wines has been experimenting with alternative grape varieties from its King Valley, Yarra Valley and Riverina vineyards for a few years, seeing three new blends come to fruition.

The wines are created by senior winemaker, John Coughlan, who says: “Down The Lane is a terrific opportunity to explore varieties that may be better suited to our particular climates and blending for interest and flavour rather the traditional single variety approach.”

The range is comprised of a white Pinot Grigio Arneis 2016, which sees a touch of Vermentino, a rosé, Gris de Gris 2016, which is composed of Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, as well as a Shiraz Tempranillo 2015.

The wines are targeted at the off-trade and multiples, and have an RRP of £8.99. The UK agent is North South Wines.
