Biggar & Leith to distribute Malfy Originale

Spirits importer Biggar & Leith has announced that it will now distribute Malfy Gin Originale. Malfy Originale is distilled by the Vergnano family in Italy and launched in 2016 and is currently available in over 40 countries.

Malfy Originale is distilled to a recipe that pays homage to the originators of gin – Italian monks – who first distilled Juniper spirits at their monasteries along the Amalfi Coast as far back as 1050. However, for Malfy Originale Alpinists Carlo Vergnano, owner of Torinal Distillati, and Beppe Ronco, master distiller, took inspiration from the terroir of their own Piedmont region.

Torino Distillati sits in the foothills of the magnificent Monviso mountain (Monte Viso), the highest peak of the Piedmont Region.

Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni combined Italian Juniper and five botanicals with Italian Winter Wheat Spirit in a traditional vacuum still. The distillate was then cut to final strength, 41% ABV, using water from Monviso – extracted at the village of Crissolo.

Carlo Vergnano says: “We wanted to create a classic gin recipe that not only characterized Italy and its early connections with Gin – but also captured the terroir of the Piedmont region where our distillery is based.”

Malfy GQDI (Gin di Qualita Distillato) is packaged in a flint glass bottle overlaid with a blue label representative of the crystal clear water of the snow-capped peak of Monviso. Malfy’s cork stopper is crafted from Italian oak.

Malfy Gin Originale will be distributed nationally from January 1 at an average SRP of $29.99 per 750 ml.
