Morgenrot's latest release a real mouthful

Beer and wine importer Morgenrot has announced its latest launch from New Zealand's Hawkes Bay – Taumata Blanc.

The full name is actually Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhen Sauvignon Blanc, in reference to a Maori hill in the region, which has gained fame for being the longest place name of consecutive characters.

Available immediately in cases of six with a list price of £6.50 per bottle, the wine is also suitable for vegetarians.

Morgenrot’s commercial director John Critchley says: “At 85 characters the wine may have the longest name in the world but as difficult as it may be to say it’s definitely not difficult to drink. It perfectly showcases how New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wines are evolving with a wonderful balance, hits of tropical fruits and that classic herbal finish.  I’m confident it will tick all the right boxes with operators and consumers and certainly create conversation, even if they can’t pronounce it.”
