Fever-Tree partners Patrón for Citrus Tonic

Fever-Tree has worked in partnership with Patrón Tequila to create Citrus Tonic Water.

A blend of citrus including Mexican limes, tangerines and bitter orange, this tonic water has been crafted to pair with Patrón Tequila.

The idea is to create a long, mixed drink that will change how people enjoy tequila.

Tim Warrillow, Fever-Tree co-founder, says: “This is an incredibly exciting collaboration. Consumers are increasingly searching for both authenticity and taste. Provenance and using the highest quality ingredients is integral to both Fever-Tree and Patron and that is why, in developing our Citrus Tonic, we travelled across Mexico to discover the passionate producers growing the finest citrus fruits enabling us to create a mixer to perfectly complement Patrón Tequila.”

“It’s the perfect pairing between two pioneering brands,” says Lee Applbaum, Global CMO of Patrón.

“Together we are recruiting new customers and changing preconceptions. It showcases the versatility of Patrón and mixability of Fever-Tree Tonic.”

Richard Cuthbert, international marketing director, Fever-Tree, says: “Simple, long mixed drinks are seeing a huge resurgence in popularity with both bartenders and consumers at home – and Fever-Tree, like Patrón Tequila, is incredibly versatile. It’s made to pair with more than just gin – of course, Fever-Tree has been showing this side for a while now – our premium mixers are enjoyed with a wide range of spirits – but this bespoke collaboration is something brand new.”

Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic Water will be seeded into and available to try in selected UK’s bars and restaurants from 12 September, which will include, London based Dandelyan, Quo Vadis and Sketch as well as Hedonist, Leeds, HMSS Bristol and the The Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Daniel Garnell, senior bartender at Dandelyan says: ‘The new Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic is a really interesting innovation and will be a new lease of life for the tequila and tonic serve. A seamless pairing of the two products results in a perfect combination of vegetal agave flavour combined with the delicate citrus notes in the tonic. We will be serving it as a Tequila and Tonic but have also created some further serves to best showcase why these two brands work perfectly together.’

Director of international marketing at Patrón, Matthew Sykes, says: “The Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition represents a wonderful opportunity, allowing us to maximise global talent. It features bartenders from some of the best bars in the world, all huge advocates for the brand. They understand the lengths we go to in creating a simply perfect tequila, which can now be matched with the bespoke Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic Water.”
