Thatchers introduces zero-alcohol cider

Cidermaker Thatchers has joined the growing ranks of beverage brands to introduce low or no-alcohol drinks to their ranges.

As many in the UK settle into 'Dry January', the alcohol-free Thatchers Zero will be hitting the shelves.

The Somerset company says its 0.0% ABV beverage has "all the appley aromas and crisp refreshment expected from the master cidermakers at Myrtle Farm". The medium-dry drink is made with a blend of traditional and modern apple varieties.

“We’ve taken a lot of time and care in the production of Zero,” says Martin Thatcher, managing director and fourth-generation cidermaker.

“Created to be full of taste from the start, this is a no-alcohol cider that meets the growing consumer expectation for moderation, but just as importantly offers great character and is something special and enjoyable to drink."

While many brewers have embraced low and no-alcohol beers and there are established varients in fruit cider, the market for alcohol-free apple ciders remains relatively small.

Like all other ciders in the brand's range, Thatchers Zero is gluten free and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It has an RRP for 500ml of £1.80 in the off trade.
