Hattingley Valley winery secures £7.5m for expansion plans

British wine producer Hattingley Valley has secured a £7.5m finance deal to support its international expansion.

The family-owned Hampshire winery, which specialises in English sparkling wines, plans to use the funds to enter new markets in Switzerland, Singapore and Malaysia and continue its growth in the UK and existing markets, with a focus on the USA, Japan, Australia, Germany and the Nordics.

The investment from the UK arm of PNC Financial Services Group will also go towards developing the producer's range of wines.

"This investment shows great confidence in our business and in the English sparkling wine industry as a whole," said Bruce Green, finance director of Hattingley Valley. "We are very excited about the next phase of our growth and, with PNC's support and financial backing, we now have a flexible working capital finance facility to support the ongoing development of our wines and expansion into new markets."

Hattingley Valley, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, saw a 45 per cent year-on-year increase in sales in 2019 and recently claimed its 100th award in the first tranche of the 2020 International Wine Challenge. Its core range comprises a rosé, blanc de blancs and the classic reserve, its most popular blend.
