Craigellachie has chosen London Heathrow as the exclusive retail location for its latest travel retail release.
The Craigellachie 39 Years Old Single Cask - currently the distiller's oldest bottling available to buy - launched at the airport last month and is on sale at World Duty Free stores and through Heathrow Boutique Reserve and Collect, while stocks last. The 138 70cl bottles available are priced at £3,499.99 each.
Distilled in 1980, the whisky was laid down in a refill Bourbon hogshead and has been bottled at 51.5% ABV, with non-chill filtration. In 2019 it was singled out by Dewar's' Stephanie MacLeod for its notes of oak, charred pineapple and toasted cereal.
Shoppers purchasing the rare expression will be entered into a competition to win a luxury three-day trip to Scotland, which includes a Craigellachie whisky pairing dinner in Edinburgh.
In addition, a special offer has been made to members of the Red by Dufry loyalty scheme to get an engraved Craigellachie glass when they purchase a bottle of the 39 Years Old.
David Hughes, regional director Europe, Bacardi Global Travel Retail, says: "First launched in travel retail in 2016, Craigellachie has gone from strength to strength thanks to its awards success and the following of its many fans who adore its bold character."
Heathrow retail director, Fraser Brown, added: "Heathrow is always proud to showcase the best of Britain in our products. That is why we are so pleased to extend our diverse selection of Scotch whisky and to welcome this exclusive and rare edition of Craigellachie 39 Years Old."
