The Glenlivet unveils new Spectra release

As we’ve seen before, The Glenlivet isn’t afraid to have some fun with its whiskies. The last few years have seen the release of each of its Alpha, Cipher, and Code expressions, which were released ‘blind’ – that is, without any cask information or tasting notes. People were encouraged to use their senses fully and try to unravel the mystery themselves, with Master Distiller Alan Winchester standing by to drop hints and help answer questions.

The Glenlivet Spectra draws on this same sense of enigma, but is delivered in an even more intriguing way: The Spectra comes as a trio of 20cl bottles, presented in playful packaging, with only the briefest of notes about what’s contained within.

Each bottle in the trio reinterprets The Glenlivet’s signature smooth and fruity style, and gives you the chance to engage with their interactive tasting experience. Scan the QR code on the box to access selected flavor profiles and put your palate to the test, comparing your tasting ability to that of the experts.

Alan Winchester explains that, “Given the mysterious nature of the Glenlivet Spectra, we aimed to ensure each flavor was distinct and recognizable. I hope whisky lovers enjoy exploring the wide spectrum of flavours within the Glenlivet Spectra, as much as we enjoyed crafting them”. Complete tasting notes and cask details will be revealed later this year, but you’ve still got plenty of time to try the whiskies and work out the mystery for yourself.

The Glenlivet Spectra is now available to purchase through Master of Malt at £105 for three 20cl bottles of single malt Scotch whisky.
