Today The Balvenie launches The Edge of Burnhead Wood 19 Years Old, the latest expression in The Balvenie Stories collection.
The Balvenie Stories collection was first launched in May last year, and celebrates human stories of endeavor and unexpected twists, as told by craftsmen at the distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. Each expression in this range of single malts brings to life a different human narrative, inspired by the distillery’s surroundings.
The Edge of Burnhead Wood “tells a tale of exploration and craft”, and takes its name from the heather-cloaked highlands which surround the distillery. It is also the first expression of The Balvenie to be made from locally-sourced ingredients from the Dufftown estate, including home-grown barley and fresh heather; the familiar Balvenie taste meets honeyed sweetness and light spice, as well as fragrant dried blossom, in this whisky.
In addition to the whisky, drinkers can enjoy the full story behind the new expression – and the three others in the collection – with a specially-created podcast series from the whiskies’ curators. This podcast will be available at Burnheadwood.com and on Spotify, and can be accessed by scanning a QR code on the bottle with a smartphone.
The Edge of Burnhead Wood is available at Whisky retail specialists and prestige on-trade outlets nationwide. Stockists include The Whisky Shop, The Whisky Exchange, and Master of Malt.
