The Worshipful Company of Distillers (The Distillers’ Livery Company) has organised an online charity auction to support those in the drinks trade who have been affected by Covid-19. The auction will be held in June, from the 7th – 16th, and The Livery is currently asking that anyone who has particularly special or unusual single bottles, cases, or casks considers donating them to the auction.
All proceeds from the auction will go to The Drinks Trust’s ‘Your Round’ appeal, which was set up in the wake of Covid-19 as the Trust saw a huge increase in demand for its services. The Trust offers vocational, financial, practical and wellbeing support to those in the industry, and with bars and distilleries being particularly hard-hit by the effects of the virus, many workers are now in urgent need of aid.
For those who wish to donate, The Livery asks that they contact Middle Warden Chris Porter at office@distillers.org.uk. The auction can be followed online here and on the Livery website.
Kenny MacKay, Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, noted that “At every level in business we face unprecedented difficulties, particularly for the lower paid and the young. As part of a wider initiative by The Distillers’ Livery Company to support The Drinks Trust, this auction is a demonstration of us standing alongside our Trade in a time of great need”.
The Distillers’ Livery Company would especially like to thank Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh and Whisky Auction for their help in enabling this vital fundraising initiative to take place.
