The Uncommon releases new range of spritzers

This week The Uncommon – the UK’s first and only producer of English sparkling wine in a can – unveils its first-ever range of English wine spritzers, as well as its 2019 vintage of bubbly wines. 

Entrepreneurs of The Uncommon, Henry Connell and Alex Thraves, have added two new creations to their line-up: Alfie, an English White Wine Spritzer, and Peggy, an English Rosé Wine Spritzer. This follows the success of their 2018 vintage, which sold out in just 10 months.

The new duo of botanical wine-spritzers are made using carefully selected English botanical extracts, and are dry and light on the palate. With an ABV of 5.5% and just 83 calories per can, they’re a light alternative and the first of their kind in the growing ready-to-drink market; they are initially launching in Selfridges.                           

The 2019 bubbly wines, Gerald and Eleanor, will launch more widely in Selfridges, Waitrose and M&S, which marks a major new listing for the brand.  Both varieties are vegan and low in sugar, and use high-quality, hand-harvested grapes from vineyards in Hampshire, Surrey and Kent.

The Uncommon is the fastest-growing English wine maker and aims to be the most sustainable wine brand in the UK, having doubled production to over 200,000 cans in year 3 and planted an additional 10 hectares of vines in Kent, as it continues to support English farmers. 

Each stage of production is now carried out in the UK, with a carbon-positive canning process, no single use materials, and multipacks made from upcycled, recycled and/or recyclable materials. The brand’s aluminium cans are also infinitely recyclable and lightweight, delivering a carbon footprint that’s 80% lighter than glass.

The brand has also won a number of awards for its packaging design. Designed by graphic designer and co-founder Alex Thraves, The Uncommon continues its work with up-and-coming artists to tap into and create unusual worlds for consumers to explore. 

The Uncommon English White Wine Spritzer and English Rosé Wine Spritzer are available in Selfridges now. The Uncommon 2019  Bubbly White and Bubbly Rosé are available in Selfridges, Waitrose and M&S. The entire range will be available online from 10^th June.
