Royston Labels’ new sustainable labels

Royston Labels now offer new sustainable materials for wine labels, in every texture and colour — as long as it’s green.

Recently there’s been an increasing consumer demand for brands to show their environmental credentials; Royston report 73% of millennials saying that they are willing to spend more on a product if it comes from a sustainable or socially conscious brand.

UK legislation is likely to respond to this over the next few years with the government introducing both incentives and taxes to encourage packaging producers to work together towards the country’s sustainability targets. However, labels (especially in wine) still need to have instant shelf appeal with impactful designs, textures and embellishments.

Royston Labels aim to lead the way in producing sustainable solutions for customers’ brands that look beautiful and also have strong environmental credentials. It is becoming easier and easier to take the environmentally-conscious route, with FSC-certified papers, recycled fibre, and even alternatives made from cotton, sugar cane, grape, barley and citrus residues all becoming more widely available.

Royston’s extensive supplier base allows the team to use responsibly sourced facestocks and labelling materials with recycled content, without having to compromise on quality or finish.

Moreover, Royston take their own responsibility to sustainability seriously, and are committed to being a zero-landfill site. Working with their recycling partners, all production waste is recycled, including the waste matrix, glassine and PET liners, inks and rags. In 2018 they saved 83 trees, and managed to recycle 55.7 tonnes of waste and 12 tonnes of glassine liner.
